Hamad International Airport Sets Record with Over 5 Million Passengers in August

Doha, Qatar – August 2025 marked a historic moment for Hamad International Airport (DOH), which welcomed more than five million passengers in a single month for the first time. The milestone reflects not only the airport’s rapid expansion but also its commitment to offering seamless journeys for every traveler.

Passengers aren’t just passing through Doha—they’re increasingly choosing it as a destination. Of the total, 1.3 million were direct point-to-point travelers, representing a 12% jump from last year and signaling Qatar’s growing appeal for both business and leisure travel. This growth aligns with aviation’s rising importance as a key driver of the nation’s diverse economy.

The record also coincides with Hamad International’s placement among the world’s busiest airports in the 2025 World Airport Traffic Dataset by Airports Council International (ACI) World, further cementing its reputation as a global leader in air travel.

What made this surge possible? A combination of expanded capacity and strong airline partnerships. Qatar Airways added more than 15 routes to its global network, while Virgin Australia entered the Doha market, and Philippine Airlines and Air Arabia boosted their services. Together, these moves created smoother connections and greater choice for passengers flying to and from Qatar.

Despite record-breaking volumes, passenger satisfaction remained at exceptional levels. Surveys in August showed 98% overall satisfaction, with 92% rating security checks as excellent—a clear reflection of the airport’s customer-first approach.

Hamad International Airport continues to prove that growth doesn’t have to come at the expense of quality. With bold investments, expanded connectivity, and a focus on traveller comfort, the airport is positioning itself as one of the most influential aviation hubs of the future—and a symbol of Qatar’s global vision.
