Education Ministry Launches ‘Tansheeh’ Program: A Bold Step for Qatar’s Next Generation

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), has officially kicked off the first meeting of the ‘Tansheeh’ program for the 2025–2026 academic year. More than 300 participants including school principals, specialists, and partner institutions gathered to explore this ambitious initiative designed to safeguard children from behavioral risks while nurturing a well-rounded and confident generation.

What is ‘Tansheeh’?

At its core, the program is a national framework aimed at strengthening protective factors and reducing risk factors that influence students’ behavior. Inspired by the globally recognized Icelandic Prevention Model, ‘Tansheeh’ emphasizes the role of family ties, structured extracurricular activities, and healthy lifestyles in shaping positive youth development.

The rollout begins with a pre-survey at the start of the school year, followed by a post-survey to measure impact. A practical training toolkit—complete with lectures and activities has also been designed for social and psychological specialists to engage both students and parents throughout the academic year.

Why It Matters for Qatar

Education leaders such as Fatima Youssef Al Obaidli, Assistant Director at the Ministry, underscored that the program is not just about managing behavior it’s about embedding values, responsibility, and resilience into the very DNA of Qatar’s next generation. Over recent years, pilot versions of the program have already shown encouraging results, from improved classroom discipline to stronger parental involvement.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sharifa Noman Al Emadi, Executive Director of DIFI, highlighted the evidence-based nature of ‘Tansheeh’. Drawing on international models and years of research, the program aligns with Qatar’s long-term vision of creating a safe, supportive, and values-driven educational environment.

The Verdict

‘Tansheeh’ isn’t just about correcting behavior it’s about preventing problems before they start, equipping young people with the values and tools to thrive. As Qatar embraces this next chapter in education, it stands as a promising step toward building resilient, ethical, and empowered generations.
